We recently held our first webinar to launch the Mukuru Women in Leadership Programme, designed to give all women working at Mukuru additional tools to empower them in these changing times.
Our guest speaker was Melody Xaba, Director and Co-Founder of My Future Work, MICT-SETA 4IR Committee member and 2019 Mail & Guardian Young 200 awardee. Her presentation dealt with the important topic: I’m Not Your Superwoman – debunking the myth that women have to take care of everything.
It was gratifying to see 241 women take time out of their day to attend the event. And it was obvious from the enthusiastic reactions and responses of our audience, that Melody had touched on experiences many of our Mukuru women could easily relate to.
Mukuru is committed to providing our women with the insights and tools to encourage and strengthen their personal journeys of empowerment, so to take a step further on our journey, and to bring the webinar into a real-world setting, we are partnering with Milpark Business School to facilitate a Women in Leadership short course, specifically designed for women at Mukuru.
A very big thank you to each woman who made the launch a success.
Our hope for each woman is to, “Dream with ambition, lead with conviction, and see yourself in a way that others might not see you, simply because they’ve never seen it before.” – US Vice President, Kamala Harris
