Online shopping is convenient and allows our Mukuru Card customers access to retailers that might have been difficult to shop from previously. As convenient as online shopping is, it’s important to note the following tips to keep your money safe in your Mukuru Card:

• Never share your Mukuru Card details, expiry date, CVV, one time pin (OTP) or other personal info with anyone, including friends, family or Mukuru staff
• Look for a picture of a lock in your browser’s URL bar when shopping online. This lock indicates that you are shopping on a safe and secure website
• Don’t overshare. While you will need to share some personal details with online retailers to be able to purchase from them, make sure to give the minimum required
• Check your statements often. Query any irregularities with Mukuru by sending a WhatsApp, sending an email or giving us a call on 0860018555
• Only shop online when you are on a secure Wifi network.
• Don’t shop online in public. Shopping online while using public transport, in a restaurant or out with friends and family could result in you being robbed of your card and / or personal details.
• Where possible, make use of Mobile Apps to shop online. Mobile Apps are more secure than online shopping websites

How to shop online with your Mukuru Card

• Add the items you’d like to buy to your cart
• Go to checkout
• Select ‘Debit Card’ as your payment method
• Enter your first name and surname
• Enter Your Mukuru Card details
• You will receive a One-Time Pin via SMS to type in the provided space
• If successful, you will receive and SMS confirming your transaction
